Roa Ventures is an early-stage venture firm led by founder John Roa who sold his last startup to Salesforce. The firm focuses on deploying design expertise alongside capital to incubate new ideas with high growth potential.


 

Core Project - Led and incubated the firm's largest investment in a mobile-concierge company focused on European luxury travel to re-imagine an archaic and cumbersome process of booking luxury services in local hot spots into a seamless one-stop service. Led various infrastructure and real estate investments to incubate the idea and test the MVP while de-risking the investment through buying core assets at a significant discount to real value.

Core Role - Oversaw all investments, managed portfolio risk, back office, and liaised with operating teams. Lead research, strategy, and execution to incubate and manage new investment and advisory projects. In addition, developed partner network relationships to source new deals, future investment partners, and develop core startup ideology to improve the investment process.

Projects & Management - Liaised with the personal investment management team at Morgan Stanley to create liquidity from traditional investment portfolio to set venture portfolio parameters.
Due Diligence - Conducted investment due-diligence research and interviews to understand the risk and growth potential of markets around investment.
Financing / Liquidity - Developed finance contacts through Europe's largest investment company to create liquidity in order to further invest in the firm's largest project. 
Partner Network Development - Conducted competitive landscape research, executed outreach campaigns, and developed investment network to create new deal flow and take part in the larger investment mind share and methodology between the US and UK.
Research, Advisory &  Strategy - Led all research efforts to understand potential ideas, markets, and opportunities to disrupt industry incumbents.
